Paper.io 2 is the territory game: you're a coloured square with a small patch of ground, and you claim more by leaving your patch, drawing a loop, and returning. Everything inside the loop becomes yours. The catch is that your trail is vulnerable — anyone who crosses it eliminates you — and so is everyone else's. Rounds are quick, the percentage of the map you own is your score, and the top of the leaderboard changes every minute.

Voodoo released the sequel in 2018 with smooth, free-form movement instead of the original's grid, and it is the version people mean. It is one of the most-searched 'unblocked' games of all, because it loads in two seconds and can be closed without losing anything.

1. You move constantly. Leave your territory, trace a loop, and return to claim the area inside.
2. Your trail outside your territory is vulnerable: if another player crosses it, you're out.
3. Cross another player's trail to eliminate them and take their land.
4. Hitting the map edge is also fatal. The score is the percentage of the map you own.

Paper.io 2 tips

• Small loops early, big loops later. A short trail is a safe trail.
• Never draw a long loop near a bigger player — they can cut it in a second.
• When someone is mid-loop near your border, chase their trail; it's the easiest kill in the game.
• Own the corners first; walls protect two sides of your territory.
