About Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird is the hardest easy game ever made. Tap to flap, and the bird rises; do nothing and it falls. Pipes with a narrow gap scroll toward you and touching anything — pipe, ground, ceiling — ends the run. Dong Nguyen released it in 2013, it became the most-downloaded app in the world in early 2014, and he pulled it from the app stores a month later because, he said, it had become too addictive.

That withdrawal is why people still search for it: the game was never officially re-released. The version here is a faithful browser remake — same physics, same gap, same scoring — and the same maddening feeling that a score of 10 should not be this hard.

  1. Each flap gives the bird a small hop upward; gravity pulls it down the rest of the time.
  2. Fly through the gap in each pair of pipes. One point per pipe.
  3. Touching a pipe, the ground or the top of the screen ends the run.
  4. Your best score is saved.

Flappy Bird tips

  • Flap in a rhythm, not in reaction. A steady tap every half-second keeps the bird level; adjust the timing slightly to climb or fall.
  • Aim for the lower half of the gap. The bird's arc after a flap is up-then-down, so entering low gives room.
  • Don't look at the bird. Look at the next gap and let your hands do the flapping.
  • Scores of 20+ come from calm. When you pass your record, keep the same rhythm — the crash is usually excitement.

Flappy Bird — questions

Why was Flappy Bird removed?

Its creator, Dong Nguyen, took it off the App Store and Google Play in February 2014, saying the game had become an addiction problem for players and the attention was ruining his life. It has not been officially re-released, which is why browser remakes like this one exist.

What is a good Flappy Bird score?

10 is a milestone for most people, 20 is good, 50 is very good, and 100+ is rare. The game's physics are identical every run, so scores are purely about consistency.

Does Flappy Bird work on a phone or Chromebook?

Both. Tap on a phone; space or click on a Chromebook. It is one of the lightest games on the site.
