About Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight is Team Cherry's 2017 metroidvania: a silent nail-wielding bug descends into Hallownest, a ruined insect kingdom, and explores an enormous interconnected map of caverns, cities and bosses, gaining abilities that unlock earlier areas. It is one of the most acclaimed independent games ever made.

The version on this page is a fan-made browser build, not the full commercial game — it recreates the movement and combat in a smaller playable form. The complete Hollow Knight is a paid release on PC and consoles; if the browser version hooks you, that is where the whole of Hallownest lives.

1. Explore left and right through connected rooms; dropping down usually opens new areas.
2. Attack enemies with the nail — timing and spacing matter more than mashing.
3. Strike downward while airborne to bounce off enemies and spikes, which is the key traversal trick.
4. Find benches to rest and save; dying leaves your currency where you fell.

Hollow Knight tips

• Pogo on enemies with a downward strike to cross gaps that look impossible.
• Back off and heal only when you have real space — healing is slow and interruptible.
• Learn each enemy's wind-up rather than trading hits; the nail out-ranges most of them.
• Explore every side passage. The map rewards curiosity more than it rewards progress.
