About Drift Hunters
Drift Hunters is a drifting game with real car physics in a browser tab. You get a car, a track and a points counter that climbs while the car is sideways; long, fast, controlled drifts pay the most. Spend what you earn on new cars — from a Toyota AE86 to a Nissan Silvia to a supercar — and on tuning: turbo, weight, gearing, camber, brake bias, tyre pressure. Ilya Kaminetsky released it in 2017 and it is still the standard browser drift game.
It runs on the Unity engine, which makes it one of the heavier games on this site: it looks and feels like a real racing game, and on a low-end laptop it needs the graphics setting turned down. Once it's running, the handling model is the reason people put hundreds of hours into it.
How to play Drift Hunters
- Accelerate / brake
- W / S or ↑ / ↓
- Steer
- A / D or ← / →
- Handbrake
- Space
- Camera
- C
- Reset car
- R
- Gears (manual)
- Shift up / down with the configured keys
- Pick a track and a car. Points count while you are drifting; the multiplier grows with drift length and angle.
- Start a drift with a flick of steering and a tap of the handbrake, then hold it with throttle and counter-steer.
- Link drifts from corner to corner without straightening to keep the multiplier alive.
- Spend points in the garage: new cars, engine and turbo upgrades, and tuning sliders that change the handling.
- There is no timer and no opponents — the score and your own consistency are the game.
Drift Hunters tips
- Tune before you buy. A cheap car with camber, more rear tyre pressure and a locked differential drifts better than a stock expensive one.
- Use the handbrake to start a drift, not to hold it — hold it with throttle and steering.
- Look where you want the car to go; steer the front wheels toward the exit of the corner, not into the slide.
- Lower the graphics setting on a Chromebook or older laptop. The physics are identical; the frame rate is what changes.
Drift Hunters — questions
What is the best car in Drift Hunters?
For scoring, the high-power rear-wheel-drive cars once tuned — the later Nissan and BMW models are favourites. For learning, the AE86 you start near: light, forgiving and cheap to tune.
Does Drift Hunters save my cars and points?
Yes, in your browser's local storage on that device. Clearing site data or switching browsers starts a new garage.
Does Drift Hunters run on a Chromebook?
Yes, with the graphics setting turned down. It is a Unity 3D game and one of the heaviest on the site; close other tabs and use fullscreen on older Chromebooks.
