About Real Chess

Real Chess is a well-featured chess implementation: play a friend on the same device or the computer at four difficulty levels, with 2D and 3D board views and both standard 8x8 and compact 6x6 boards.

The 6x6 option is genuinely interesting for beginners — a smaller board means fewer pieces and shorter games, which makes tactical patterns much easier to see.

How to play Real Chess

Move
Click or tap the piece, then the destination square
  1. Choose 1 or 2 players and a difficulty level.
  2. Pick an 8x8 or 6x6 board and a 2D or 3D view.
  3. Move pieces by standard chess rules.
  4. Checkmate your opponent's king to win.

Real Chess tips

  • Control the centre and develop knights before bishops.
  • Castle early; an exposed king loses most beginner games.
  • Play the 6x6 board to practise tactics — patterns are easier to see.
  • Before every move, ask what your opponent's last move threatened.
