About Retro Highway

Retro Highway is a pixel-art motorbike racer in the spirit of the arcade road games of the eighties: you ride down a busy highway, weaving between cars and trucks at increasing speed, collecting coins and chasing distance.

The art style does a lot of the work — sprite-scaled traffic, sunset palettes and a synth soundtrack — but the game underneath is a tight reflex test that speeds up until you clip a bumper.

  1. Ride forward, weaving between traffic.
  2. Collect coins and pickups along the road.
  3. Speed increases the further you get.
  4. Hitting a vehicle ends the run; distance is the score.

Retro Highway tips

  • Ride the lane lines rather than the middle of a lane — it halves the distance to either escape route.
  • Overtake on the side with more open road ahead.
  • Slow down slightly before dense traffic; the score you lose is less than the run you save.
  • Coins that sit between two trucks are bait.

Retro Highway — questions

Does Retro Highway have an end?

No — it's an endless road racer. Distance is the score and the traffic gets faster and denser as you go.

How do you go faster in Retro Highway?

Hold the accelerator and pick clean lines through traffic — near-misses and sustained speed build your score faster than weaving constantly.

Does it work on a Chromebook?

Yes — a light pixel-art game that runs in the browser with nothing to install.
