About Edge Surf

Edge Surf is the game hidden in Microsoft Edge — the browser's answer to Chrome's dinosaur. Type edge://surf and you get a surfer on an endless sea, steering around rocks, buoys and other surfers, collecting coins and speed boosts, with a kraken somewhere behind you. It is a lovingly made remake of SkiFree, the 1991 Windows game, and it has three modes: endless surf, time trial and zig-zag.

How to play Edge Surf

1. Choose a mode. Let's Surf is endless; Time Trial races to the finish; Zig Zag threads gates.
2. Surf down the screen, steering around obstacles. Collect coins and speed boosts.
3. You have three lives (hearts); hitting a rock costs one.
4. Survive as long as possible — or beat the clock. The kraken appears when you slow down too much.

Edge Surf tips

• Stay near the middle; the edges have more rocks and less room to react.
• Use boosts to escape the kraken, not to gain distance — it's faster than you think.
• In Zig Zag, aim for the inside of each gate; the next one is always close.
• Slow down before dense rock fields, then accelerate through the gap.
