Edge Surf is the game hidden in Microsoft Edge — the browser's answer to Chrome's dinosaur. Type edge://surf and you get a surfer on an endless sea, steering around rocks, buoys and other surfers, collecting coins and speed boosts, with a kraken somewhere behind you. It is a lovingly made remake of SkiFree, the 1991 Windows game, and it has three modes: endless surf, time trial and zig-zag.
This page runs a browser recreation of it so you can play in Chrome, Safari or a Chromebook. The details are all there: the three characters, the coins, the boosts, the kraken.
Type edge://surf into Edge's address bar. It also appears on Edge's offline error page. This page runs a recreation for other browsers.
Yes — it is a deliberate homage to SkiFree, the 1991 Windows game, with surfing instead of skiing and a kraken instead of the yeti.
The recreation on this page does — in Chrome, on any Chromebook, with nothing to install.
