Russian Fishing at Sea is a fishing game with real depth to its mechanic: you cast by holding and releasing, watch for the bite indicator, and then manage line tension — pull too long and the fish escapes; ease off at the wrong moment and it swims out.
There are over 100 species across many bodies of water, plus aquariums where you can raise and sell what you catch, which gives the fishing a longer-term purpose.
Manage tension by alternately pulling and easing. Pulling continuously loses distance fast; the fish is landed when its health or the distance reaches zero.
Over 100, across many different bodies of water, some of which need better gear to reach.
Raising fish you've caught and selling them, which is a longer-term income stream than selling each catch immediately.
