About Backrooms

The Backrooms began as a single creepypasta image and a caption about 'noclipping out of reality' into endless yellow rooms with damp carpet and buzzing fluorescent lights. It became one of the internet's biggest horror mythologies, and this browser game puts you inside it: identical corridors, no map, and the growing certainty that you are not alone.

The horror is architectural rather than monstrous. Everything looks the same, so you lose track of where you've been, and the game lets that do the work long before anything shows up. When something does, the corridors you can't tell apart become a serious problem.

4. Find the way to the next level, or escape, to finish.

Backrooms tips

• Pick a wall and follow it consistently. Wandering freely in identical rooms is how people get lost for twenty minutes.
• Walk rather than run unless something is chasing you — running is loud.
• Note anything unique: a stain, a broken light, a doorway. Those are your only landmarks.
• Headphones. The entity is audible before it is visible.
