Gold Miner is one of the defining casual games of the 2000s: a claw swings back and forth above an underground scene full of gold nuggets, diamonds and worthless rocks, and you press once to drop it. Everything after that is out of your hands — the claw grabs whatever it hits and hauls it up, slowly if it's heavy.
The strategy is entirely in the timing and in knowing what to leave. Big nuggets are worth the wait; large rocks take just as long and pay almost nothing, and each level has a cash target you must reach.
Prioritise diamonds and small nuggets, which pull up fast, and ignore large rocks entirely — they cost the same time as a big nugget for almost no money.
Blowing up something you've grabbed by mistake. If the claw is slowly hauling a worthless rock, dynamite destroys it and returns the claw immediately.
Yes — a light 2D game with nothing to install.
