About Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal is the game show with no questions: 26 briefcases, each with a hidden amount from a penny to a million, and you pick one to keep. Then you open the others, a few at a time, and after each round the banker offers you money to stop. Take the deal, or open more cases and gamble that the big amounts are still in play — ideally, in yours.

This is the official-style browser version with the show's format: 26 cases, the banker's offers, and the reveal at the end of what was in your case. It is pure probability dressed as drama, and it is exactly as tense as the TV show.

1. Choose one case to keep. Its amount stays hidden until the end.
2. Open cases in rounds — six, then five, then four, and so on. Each opened amount is removed from the board.
3. After each round the banker offers a sum based on what's left. Take it (Deal) or keep going (No Deal).
4. If you never deal, you win whatever is in your case.

Deal or No Deal tips

• The banker's offer is below the average of the remaining amounts early on and approaches it late. Early deals are bad deals.
• Count the big amounts left. With two of the top five still on the board, the offer is usually worth refusing.
• Once you've opened a few big amounts, the offers stop improving; that's when to deal.
• Your own case is a random pick — it is no more likely to hold the million than any other.
