About Australian Patience

Australian Patience is Klondike's harder cousin. Seven tableau piles of four face-up cards each, a stock to draw from one card at a time, and four foundations to build up in suit from ace to king — but the tableau builds down in suit rather than alternating colours, and only single cards move.

Those two restrictions change everything. There's no shuffling a black queen onto a red king to buy time, and no moving a run as a unit, so every card has exactly one place it can go.

2. Build foundations up in suit from ace to king.
3. The tableau builds down in suit; only one card moves at a time.
4. Empty columns take any card.
5. Draw one card at a time from the stock; there is no redeal.

Australian Patience tips

• Empty a column early — with single-card moves only, spare space is the whole game.
• Don't bury a low card under a high one of the same suit; you won't get it back.
• Plan before you draw; the stock passes only once.
• Everything is visible, so the losses are yours. Take the time to look.
